The Challenge
The beauty retailer company wanted to set up a gift with purchase offer, but the default Shopify Discount didn’t meet their needs. The team needed a solution that would automatically add gift items to customers’ carts once specific products were purchased.
Besides the auto-add gift feature, the solution had to be scalable and reliable. With their plan to run 20+ promotions every month across over 30,000 store products, the solution should be able to handle a wide range of campaigns with as few issues as possible.

Moreover, for certain luxury brands that couldn’t offer discounts, Glam42 used this gift with purchase tactic instead to maintain the brand’s prestige while still providing more value to shoppers.
Tiered and Targeted Promotions to Maximize Sales
The beauty retailer brand even took its strategy a step further by implementing tiered and targeted promotions on the website. Let me break down what these are exactly.
A tiered discount promotion rewards customers with different gifts based on their spending. For example, Glam42 ran a campaign in which spending ₪199 on Lancome products earned a gift bag, while spending over ₪499 unlocked a full Lancome gift set.
BOGOS played a key role in simplifying the process. The app ensured that once customers reached a higher spending tier, the corresponding gift could be automatically added, while the lower-tier gift was also removed from the cart.
When Glam42 tried this approach, the team noticed these outcomes, especially when the higher tier also offered a greater perceived value gift:
- Customers were more likely to increase their spending in one purchase
- Once shoppers saw the gift just within reach, they were motivated to buy more to unlock the next reward level
In addition to tiered promotions, the beauty retailer targeted the offers to specific brands. For example, the team created a Lancome promotion where both the purchase conditions and gifts were Lancome. This made the deal relevant to the right audience while giving it a more exclusive feel, as the gifts were from the same premium brand.
Fresh Deals to Keep Customers Engaged
Every month, Glam42 launched 5 to 10 promotions to keep their deals exciting and fresh. This steady flow of new deals encourages shoppers to regularly visit the website, eager to discover the latest promotions. The result? Increasing customer loyalty and boosting sales immediately.
To launch multiple campaigns every month and streamline marketing efforts, the Israel retailer brand regularly used BOGOS features such as Duplicate or Import/Export offers.
However, with a large number of promotions planned each month, it’s important for the company to maintain the right balance. As a retailer of high-end products, offering too many deals could risk lowering the perceived value of their items.
To avoid this, the brand strategically combined discounts and gift offers across different brands. While discounts reduced the subtotal, the gifts added extra value to customers’ baskets instead without diminishing the product’s worth.

The team designed eye-catching banners for each offer, and they displayed them one by one on the homepage. This layout could make customers feel “surrounded” by exclusive offers from Glam42. The hero banners were also responsive on mobile and desktop, featuring clear CTA buttons.
Additionally, the Israel brand marked products with gift offers using a bright, yellow sticker, “Free gift with purchase, for ₪199 spending.” These labels were hard to miss and grabbed attention immediately.
To reach more customers, Glam42 also promoted the offers on Instagram and Facebook and invested in paid campaigns to boost visibility and engagement.
